Terms & Conditions

Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 27/12/25

These Terms & Conditions outline the agreement between Bridget Smith Tutoring and the parent/carer or adult learner. By booking a session, you agree to the terms below.

1. Services Provided

I offer personalised tutoring in English, Maths, Study Skills, and SEN‑focused support (including Dyslexia and Neurodiverse learning needs). Sessions may take place:

  • Online via Microsoft Teams for Education

  • In person at my classroom in Saunton, North Devon

All sessions are tailored to the learner’s needs, pace, and goals.

2. Booking & Payment

  • Sessions must be booked in advance through my website or directly with me.

  • Payment is required before the session unless otherwise agreed.

  • Payment methods accepted: online, bank transfer, cash.

  • Block bookings must be paid in full at the start of the block unless agreed otherwise.

3. Cancellations & Rescheduling

I understand that life happens, especially for families and neurodiverse learners. To keep things fair and manageable:

  • 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule a session.

  • Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged in full.

  • If I need to cancel a session, I will offer an alternative time or a full refund.

4. Late Arrivals

  • If a learner arrives late, the session will still end at the scheduled time.

  • If I am running late, you will receive the full session time or an alternative arrangement.

5. Safeguarding & Online Safety

Safeguarding is central to my practice.

  • A responsible adult must be present in the home during online sessions for learners under 18.

  • Learners should join online sessions from a suitable, safe environment.

  • I may end a session if I have safeguarding concerns.

  • Any safeguarding concerns will be followed up according to statutory guidance.

6. Learning Environment

Online

I use Microsoft Teams for Education, which includes interactive tools such as digital whiteboards, Immersive Reader, shared documents, and structured lesson spaces. A stable internet connection is required.

In Person

My classroom in Saunton, North Devon, is a calm, fully resourced learning space overlooking Braunton Burrows. It includes hands‑on materials, visual supports, and interactive tools. Parents/carers may wait on-site if they wish.

7. Behaviour & Expectations

I maintain a positive, supportive learning environment.
If behaviour significantly disrupts learning or safety, I may pause or end the session and discuss next steps with you.

8. Homework & Progress

Homework may be set where appropriate and is optional unless agreed otherwise.
Progress updates can be provided on request or at agreed intervals.

9. Data Protection

I follow UK GDPR guidelines.
Please see my Privacy Policy for full details on how personal data is collected, stored, and used.

10. Illness

If a learner is unwell, please reschedule the session.
I reserve the right to end a session if a learner is too unwell to participate effectively.

11. Materials & Resources

All teaching materials I provide (digital or printed) are for personal use only and must not be shared, copied, or distributed without permission. If extra resources are required, this will be discussed with the responsible adult, and either I can purchase them and invoice accordingly, or they can be purchased directly by the parent/carer.

12. Liability

I am not liable for:

  • technical issues beyond my control

  • loss of work due to device failure

  • outcomes dependent on external factors (e.g., school assessments, exam boards)

I will always act with professionalism, care, and in the learner’s best interests.

13. Changes to Terms

I may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
